About

Compassby The Mountain Studio

A journal of mountain life — from the team and ambassadors who actually live it.

We built The Compass for people like us.

People who plan trips around weather windows. Who pack the same shell for ten years. Who care about the bakery in the village as much as the run that ends there. Who’d rather take an extra day to do it properly than three days to do it fast.

The Mountain Compass is the journal we wished existed when we were planning our own trips. It is written entirely by The Mountain Studio team and our ambassadors — skiers, guides, alpinists, designers, photographers — all based in the mountain towns we cover. The recommendations are personal. The tone is honest. Nothing on this site is paid for.

We share what we’d tell a friend coming to visit: the lift to take first, the place to eat lunch that nobody books, the room with the best window, the right base layer for a −20° morning. Some of it is technical. Some of it is just a good evening.

If you live the mountain life — or want to — this is for you.

The mountains are for everyone. How you choose to experience them is personal.
